ABTA have just issued the following with regard to Traveller concerns regarding Greece: No one knows exactly what would happen if Greece left the euro, however it is likely there would be a transition period when holidaymakers would still be able to pay with euros in bars and restaurants. What we are recommending is that consumers do not rely on plastic and take plenty of cash with them as it is possible that an exit from the euro could result in issues with using credit and debit cards at Greek banks.’

Possible Disruption to Flights in Portugal due to Strike Action Dates (11 – 25 May 2012)

A series of strikes has been called by Portuguese Air Traffic Controllers on 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25 May 2012. The strikes will take place between 0700hrs – 0900hrs, 1400hrs – 1600hrs and 2100hrs – 2300hrs. In addition, airport staff are planning 24-hour strike action on 18 May 2012 starting at midnight. As a result, disruption to flights to and from Portugal on these dates may be experienced.
