British Airways Upgrade to First Campaign

Complimentary one-way upgrade from Business to First, on either the outbound or the inbound journey, on applicable published fare routes. Subject to availability, with no limit on the number of journeys taken during the booking and travel periods. New rule for Driving Licence starting from the 8th of June 2015

There has been recent media coverage advising that the DVLA is to abolish the paper counterpart of driving licences from 8th June 2015 for both .  This has been in the pipeline for some time, however is now being reported in the media that travellers may experience difficulties when hiring a car overseas. 

After 8th June 2015 the DVLA have advised that if you are hiring a vehicle and you are asked to provide evidence of your driving record you will be able to do by accessing the Share Driving Licence service via the DVLA online for free.

This service is currently in development but the DVLA has advised it will be available before the counterpart is abolished. The service can be used by both paper (original old style paper licence) and photocard driving licence holders and will also allow you to download a summary of your licence record which can be printed or shared.

Alternatively you can call DVLA and give permission for your driving record to be checked verbally by a nominated person/organisation for example hire car companies.

Advice to customers
Customers due to travel who have booked car hire, should check with their travel providers prior to travel to establish if their hire car company is aware of the change and whether any new measures have been implemented as a result. 

If you already hold a paper counterpart, after 8 June 2015 it will no longer have any legal status. You should destroy your paper counterpart after this date but you still need to keep your current photocard driving licence.

New rule for Chinese visa's starting from the 26th of March 2015
The China Embassy are requesting with immediate effect the invite letter from the inviting company in China must have the name printed in Chinese script and also a copy of the passport from the person who signs this letter. We have also been advised the China Embassy may contact the company on occasions to ensure the authenticity of the business invite you have provided as any information is incorrect the visa application will be rejected.
